Imagine with me, if you would for a moment, this man they call Jesus walking along the Galilee seashore as the morning sunlight begins to rise. He stops by a shallow place in the water along the shoreline and crouches down, dips his strands of ebony-colored hair beneath the cool water. Then rising to the surface, glistening droplets glide down the shafts of His long hair in the early morning light. Obvious to one who views this sight, is the pronounced silhouette of His face and nose which would indicate He is of Jewish descent. Though some would consider Him comely, His friendly deep brown eyes give one a sense of His welcoming and friendly spirit.
Looking closer, His skin, an olive tint, gives Him depth of color against His mediocre sand-tone garment. A sash of loosely woven threads lay over His shoulder. Modestly shod are His weathered feet with sandals that have seen better days.
Though His appearance is like that of a common countryman of the region, He has a noticeably pleasant smile that draws one’s attention at first glance. And peeking out from the hairy growth on His chin and upper lip can be found on occasion teeth when He laughs.
Truly there is something extraordinarily different about this man of Galilee. Some even say He is the Savior of the world.
